Nitrogen fertilizer and tillage intensity affected winter wheat macronutrient uptake and utilization efficiencies

Application of N fertilizer and no-tillage (NT) can increase winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L) production through improvements in plant available soil water nutrient availability. However, long-term tillage management interaction effects on uptake are not well known. The objective this study was to quantify grain yield, macronutrient removal, utilization responses application intensity. conducted 2019 2020 at Hays, Kansas after 45 years fertility experiment. Treatments were a combination two practices (CT, conventional tillage; NT) four rates (0, 45, 90, 134 kg ha−1). Results showed significant effect removal (NR) (grain-N, -P, -K, -Mg; stover-K, total P), concentration (stover-K -S). Two different quadratic models fit the rate-to-yield relation for CT NT with yields 4.3 5.2 Mg ha−1 agronomic optimal 119 199 ha−1, respectively. This suggests that high enough predict optimum rate environment. With an average yield 3.30 removed about 113 17 P 56 K 7 Ca 8 S irrespective practice.
